‘We Love You, Conrad’

We love you, Matlock. Oh, yes we do… — Voices of the elderly poor, “Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy”

The tune Grampa & Co. sing before setting upon Andy Griffith is a quick nod to a Broadway musical called Bye Bye Birdie, which features a song called, “We Love You, Conrad.” Hit it!

Conrad, a hip-shakin’, teen-impregnatin’ rock crooner who swings by the sleepy township of Sweet Apple, Ohio, before heading off to the army, was largely based on E.A.P., who also made a splash upon being conscripted.

Anyway, there you have it. Maaaatlockkkkkk!
