Mrs. Astor Safe

Well, like we say, ‘The right house for the right person.’ — Marge

Listen, it’s time I let you in on a little secret, Marge. The right house is the house that’s for sale. The right person is anyone. — Lionel Hutz, “Realty Bites”

The newspaper clipping showing off the “murder house” that Marge later sells to the Flandereses contains a barely noticeable reference to another iconic newspaper broadsheet sold by the Gray Lady in April 1912 (check the third line):

Mrs. Madeleine Talmage Astor, who was 19 at the time the RMS Titanic made its plunge, did in fact survive the episode, though her husband, Colonel John Jacob Astor, sadly did not.

Check out the Encyclopedia Titanica for more information on the disaster than even the most scholarly of JFK obsessives could possibly absorb. The message board, as you might imagine, is bumping.

It’s hard to read, but does that say “Maj. Butt”? They didn’t use that instead?
