To Serve Man

Look, I know that to you we Simpsons are a lower order of life. We face that prejudice every day of our lives… — Lisa, “Treehouse of Horror”

To Serve Man is a short story written by acclaimed sci-fi guy Damon Knight. The book concerns a race of seemingly benevolent aliens that come to Earth bearing gifts and offering a unique foreign exchange program in which humans are given ten-year vacations on the aliens’ utopian home planet.

I don’t want to give too much away…

As the above still demonstrates, the people at The Twilight Zone in 1962 adapted the story for their show. The episode, along with all others of the original Rod Serling-produced series, is currently available to watch on Netflix if you like (recommended…actually, watch the whole series if you can—great stuff).

Also, soylent green is people, as Phil Hartman emphasizes. But that doesn’t really apply here.
