Lurleen Lumpkin appears on variety show Ya-Hoo!, a note-for-note parody of Hee Haw, which ran in one form or another from 1969 to 1992.

Hee Haw was a cornpone take-off of popular Nixon vehicle Laugh-In, and, from what I’ve seen, it was a damn fine one. Besides one-liners and general variety show zaniness, it also featured some great music:

According to the “Colonel Homer” episode commentary, the above-quoted joke was one of two possibilities. Here’s what Matt Groening says the other option was, which, frankly, I think they should have run with:

Zeke, why did you urinate into that turnip truck? — Hillbilly #1

Because it’s headed to New York City. — Hillbilly #2
