‘Laugh-In’ Bumpers

Sock it to me? — Richard Nixon, “Laugh-In”

Two for the price of one today, kinda! First, observe the first few seconds of the following, in conjunction with Maggie’s boogie in “Mother Simpson”:

Hip! Second, pair the would-be final blow to Lisa’s sax in “Lisa’s Sax”…

…with that displayed here and in various other Laugh-In segments (at around 4:40):

Fun fact: the variety show’s tricycle rider was played by a smattering of Laugh-In cast and crew. And Kissinger once.

One Response to ‘Laugh-In’ Bumpers

Thanks for this post McGarnagle! There are so many Laugh-In references in the Simpsons, it boggles the mind! My favorite, from “Day of the Jackanapes”:
“…Finally, I got a second chance on “Laugh-In.” [a clip from "Laugh-In" is seen, showing a wall with several shuttered doors on it. A lady emerges from behind one set of doors]
Lady: Hey, Krusty, what do you get when you cross a chicken with a beagle? [camera focuses on another set of shutters, which don't open]
Krusty: [banging on shutters] The fercockta doors are stuck! Don’t just stare, Arte, help me! [back to present day] Those lousy shutters set me back another 22 years. [audience cheers]

You can watch the video here, minute 15:20, never mind the Russian – http://smotri.com/video/view/?id=v6804444135

ps, It sounds to me like the other Laugh-In guest is saying “bagel” not “beagel” – either way, I wonder what the punchline of that joke might have been?
pps, I’m sure you’ve seen the McBain movie from last year, (http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/81308507/) – I really want someone to make one for McGarnagle!!! Just saying.
